The Accounting Officer (AO) is required, in terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), No. 56 of 2003, to maintain adequate account records and is responsible for the content and integrity of the financial statements and related financial information. The AO must also ensure that the financial statements fairly represent the state of affairs of the municipality as at the end of the financial year, and the results of its operations and cash flows for the period ended.
The Annual Financial Statements have been prepared and audited in terms of Section 126 of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
