Knysna Municipality is now available as a ‘channel’ on the national Collaborator (Collab) Citizen application developed by Business Engineering.
The Collab Citizen app is available for download from your app store. Users register once before subscribing to a ‘channel’, or municipality. “Once you have added Knysna Local Municipality as a channel, you can specify your interests as a property owner, tenant or visitor to subscribe to our newsfeed and receive information published by our channel”, according to Knysna acting municipal manager Johan Jacobs.
The Collab Citizen app allows users to access municipal accounts, receive notifications, log and track service requests, share the app with family and friends and schedule building inspections when construction progress requires such visits.
Future functionalities will include an anti-fraud and corruption reporting portal, load shedding schedules, a panic button and the option to upload meter readings. Users will also soon be able to rate not only the handling of their service requests, but also municipal contractors.
“We invite residents to make use of this new, easy and reliable method of communicating with the municipality and staying abreast of newsworthy developments. It is an innovative way to communicate in an inclusive, innovative and inspired Knysna”, Jacobs concluded.
