Education through golf

This year’s Knysna Mayoral Charity Golf Day on Friday, October 14 at the Simola Country Club will once again raise funds for the education and skills development.

Since the inaugural event during 2007, this day has become a firm favourite on the Garden Route golfing calendar. Being a qualified educator Knysna Executive Mayor, Eleanore Bouw-Spies is passionate about providing opportunities to the youth who want to better themselves.

“Last year this golf day raised close on R200 000 for the Mayor’s Social Relief and Bursary Fund and this year I am hoping to raise a great deal more. Christopher Reeve our ‘Superman’ said that once you chose hope, anything is possible and through this bursary fund, we can offer hope to the youth of Greater Knysna.”

A four-ball costs R2 500 and this includes a bite to eat at the halfway house, golf cart and gift. Handicaps are limited to Men – maximum 24 and Ladies – maximum 36. There will be a shot-gun start at 12:30.
